NBA G League: Spurs drop a close one to Clippers


Tyrone Wallace scored 24 points and added eight rebounds as Agua Caliente recovered from a shaky first half to beat the Austin Spurs 94-92 in an NBA G League game Thursday night at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

The Spurs (11-8) used a 22-7 run at the end of the first quarter to build a 27-20 lead, and they put together a 10-1 stretch to go up 60-43 at halftime.

But the Clippers (12-7) came out red hot to start the third quarter, with a 25-6 run that put them on top 68-66. The final quarter stayed close, but J.J. O’Brien’s two late free throws wrapped it up for Agua Caliente. O’Brien finished with 17 points.

Darrun Hilliard led Austin with 22 points and contributed five rebounds and three assists. Rookie Jaron Blossomgame had 21 points — his 10th straight game in double figures — and four rebounds. Blossomgame hit 8 of 10 shots from the field, including 3 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc.

Livio Jean-Charles was the only other Spur in double figures, with 11 points.

Tyler Roberson scored 13 points, LaDontae Henton had 11 and Brice Johnson added 10 for the Clippers.

The Spurs were on the road Friday night for a game against Memphis.
