NBA G League: Late shot lifts Wisconsin over Austin Spurs


Xavier Munford made a shot with 12.5 seconds to go in regulation to lift the Wisconsin Herd to a 93-92 win over the Austin Spurs at the NBA G League Showcase in Mississauga, Ontario.

Darrun Hilliard attempted a shot with 3.9 seconds left that didn’t fall for Austin.

The Spurs (15-11) were outscored 27-20 in the final period as the win slipped away.

Joel Bolomboy led all scorers with 27 points as he hit 10 of his 12 shot attempts for the Herd. He also led Wisconsin (16-11) with eight rebounds.

Munford finished with 18 points. JeQuan Lewis was just shy of a double-double for Wisconsin, scoring nine points to go with nine assists.

Wisconsin shot well overall, hitting 49 percent of its shots, while the Spurs hit just 41 percent.

Livio Jean-Charles led the Spurs with 18 points as five players scored in double digits for Austin. Hilliard and Jaron Blossomgame each had 14 points and seven rebounds. Olivier Hanlan scored 13, and Nick Johnson added 12.

Johnson led the Spurs in assists with eight.

Amida Brimah led the team with 10 rebounds off the bench.

The Spurs were up by five points at halftime and increased the margin to six after three quarters but could not hold on.

Both squads ended the Showcase with 1-1 records.

Austin next will face the Maine Red Claws on the road at 6 p.m. Monday.
