Austin Spurs lose fourth straight


Both the Austin Spurs and Santa Cruz Warriors had six players score in double digits, but the Warriors came out on top 107-102 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Thursday night.

The loss made it four straight for the Spurs.

James Southerland led all scorers with 27 points and led the Warriors (10-5) with eight rebounds. Alex Hamilton added 16 points and was an assist and three rebounds short of a triple-double.

Cleanthony Early, Damion Lee and Damion Jones each scored 14 for the Warriors. Georges Niang rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points.

Santa Cruz led the entire way, building its lead to as many as 19 points twice in the game.

The first time the Warriors went up by 19, the Spurs (8-7) responded with a 14-0 lead.

Santa Cruz took another 19-point lead in the fourth quarter and the Spurs were unable to come back.

Darrun Hilliard led the Spurs with 21 points. Julian Washburn chipped in 19 and hit 4-of-5 3-pointers.

Amida Brimah led Austin with 12 rebounds. He added eight points. Nick Johnson added 16 points.

Austin started the season 8-3, but have dropped to 8-7 following the losing streak.

The Spurs will try to get back on track when they take on the Warriors again on Sunday at 2 p.m. at home.
