Austin Spurs back in win column with big offensive night


Eight members of the Austin Spurs scored in double digits as they got back in the win column with a 130-124 victory over the Texas Legends in Frisco Saturday night.

Derrick White scored 23 points while Livio Jean-Charles added 20 to go with 11 rebounds.

Olivier Hanlan put up 18 points while Amida Brimah added 15 on 7-of-7 shooting. Nick Johnson also scored 18 for Austin.

Jaron Blossomgame and Julian Washburn each added 12 for the Spurs. Washburn was hot from deep, making all four of his 3-point attempts.

Jeff Ledbetter scored 10 for Austin and led the team in steals (4) and assists (6).

Jalen Jones led all scorers with 28 points for the Legends while Xavier Johnson notched a double-double. He scored 24 points and collected 10 boards. Keith Hornsby added 17 points.

Donald Sloan had a double-double for the Legends as well, scoring 22 points to go with 12 assists.

The Spurs led by 8 at halftime, but both teams exploded offensively in the second half. The Legends outscored Austin 71-69 in the final two periods.

Texas got to within four points late in regulation, but it wasn’t enough as the Spurs made their free throws.

Austin next hosts Iowa on Thursday for an early contest at 11 a.m. at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
