Round Rock Express end losing streak with extra-innings win


The Round Rock Express scored four runs in the tenth inning to end a four-game losing streak as they defeated Reno 10-6 on the road Wednesday night.

An error by Ildemaro Vargas in the top of the tenth allowed Drew Stubbs to score the winning run.

Preston Beck hit a two-run single before Luis Marte drove in another run to pad the Express (16-24) lead later in the inning.

Beck finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Brett Hayes was 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Hayes doubled and singled three times, driving in two runs in the win.

Cesar Puello doubled and singled twice, scoring three runs while driving in two.

Preston Claiborne earned the win as he allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Kaleb Fleck was hit with the loss as he allowed four runs, two unearned, on three hits in one inning.

Anthony Banda was hit hard early, allowing six runs on seven hits through six innings as the Aces starter.

Both teams scored four runs in the first inning before the Express took a two-run lead in the third.

After the Aces scored a run in the fourth, they tied the game in the seventh.

Carlos Rivero was 1-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs for the Aces (24-16).

The Express will try for a series split on Thursday afternoon.
