Two league victories and an opening win in the nation’s oldest ongoing national soccer tournament have the Austin Aztex ready for their toughest test of the season — a Tuesday match against the Wilmington Hammerheads, a USL Pro Division team, in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup.
The Hammerheads, who are the first Pro Division team to visit Austin since 2010, play at the level above Austin’s; the ULS Pro Division is the third tier of American soccer, while the Professional Development League in which the Aztex compete is considered the fourth level.
