His seventh consecutive Tour de France victory was celebrated widely, but most notably in Austin, where he made his home. Former Austin Mayor Will Wynn organized a victory parade for Armstrong upon his return from France, and 40,000 Austinites, many of them dressed in yellow — the color of the Tour de France champion’s jersey — lined Congress Avenue to show their appreciation and support.
