Michael McBroom’s best event is the mile, as he tries for another NCAA championship at the end of March. But on Thursday night, the Texas senior was able to race test both his endurance and speed during the finals of the Big 12 Conference 500-yard freestyle.
The result? He picked up his second career Big 12 title, while breaking a career best. His time of 4 minutes, 14.42 seconds ranks second best in the country as swimmers begin the countdown to the NCAA championships in Indianapolis, March 28-30.
