Former Texas A&M receiver Ryan Swope was forced to give up football Thursday, three months after he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. Concussions were given as the reason.
Swope, who also played running back at Westlake High School, suffered at least two concussions while at Texas A&M. Although he was projected as a possible second-round pick, Swope unexpectedly slipped to the sixth round in April’s draft. It was announced then that team doctors didn’t want to risk selecting Swope because of his head injuries in college.
