Every year around September 1, the day that dove season opens in Texas, there’s a scramble among some hunters and anglers to purchase their new licenses.
This is not an insignificant event. Each year, Texas sells about 2.1 million licenses of all kinds. And all of them expire at the end of the day Aug. 31. On Sept. 1, the new license year starts and we do it all over again. Sales begin Aug. 15.
