Nneka Enemkpali scored 18 points and collected nine rebounds, but the Longhorns couldn’t overcome the No. 11 Oklahoma State Cowgirls, falling 67-61 in Stillwater on Thursday night in the Big 12 opener.
Tiffany Bias led the Cowgirls with 23 points, while Liz Donohoe registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Longhorns (9-4, 0-1 Big 12) stood toe-to-toe with the Cowgirls (12-0, 1-0 Big 12) for most of the night, but Oklahoma State pulled away in the second half.
It was the Longhorns’ third loss to a top-11 team this season.
The Longhorns took a 39-38 lead when Imani McGee-Stafford connected on a jump shot with 14:37 left in the second half, but that was the Longhorns’ last lead. McGee-Stafford was the Longhorns’ second-leading scoring with 12 points to go with seven rebounds.
The Cowgirls responded with a 5-0 run and built their lead to nine points on multiple occasions in the second half.
Kelsey Lang led the Longhorns in rebounding with 12 while adding six points.

Oklahoma State led at halftime 32-31, with Bias and Donohue scoring in double figures. Enemkpali was the only Longhorn in double digits by halftime, with 12 points.
