In opening-round TAPPS 4A volleyball playoff matches, St. Dominic Savio defeated Houston Second Baptist and Hyde Park Baptist advanced by beating Houston Emery Weiner, In TAPPS 3A play, Brentwood Christian topped The Woodlands Christian and Round Round swept Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills. Austin Veritas won its opening-round TAPPS 2A match, defeating Galveston O’Connell. … Three matches will be played tonight to determine seedings for the UIL postseason. Lake Travis faces Westlake at 5:30 tonight at Dripping Springs High, with the winner earning the No. 1 seed in 15-5A.

Caleb Hollifield led Round Rock to the boys team title at the District 16-5A cross country meet, topping the field in 15 minutes, 42 seconds. He was followed by Stony Point’s Joseph Meade (15:51) and McNeil’s Peyton Heinig (15:59). Round Rock also won the girls team title as the Dragons’ Alyssa Moody (18:02) finished second to Stony Point’s Melanie Enriquez (17:41). McNeil’s Amelia McElhinney (18:11) was third. … Cedar Park swept the team titles at the District 25-4A meet while Rouse’s Madie Boreman (17:56) defending her individual girls championship. Cedar Park’s Brittany Innis (18:17) took second, and Rouse’s Haley Timmons (18:46) was third. Dripping Springs’ Steven Galli (15:29) led the boys field, ahead of Marble Falls’ Jordon Wright (15:35) and Cedar Park’s Logan Thomas (15:50). … Preston Glace of Hill Country Christian finished third last week at the TAPPS 2A boys state meet in Waco, covering three miles in 17:56. Marble Falls Faith’s Sophie McCannon (12:26) took third in the 2A girls’ 2-mile race.
