Dalan Ancrum, sr., Westwood: Last season’s top newcomer will try to lead Westwood to its first playoff appearance since 2004.
Clayton Baumgart, sr., Burnet: Led Bulldogs a year ago with his play on offense (15 points per game) and defense (3.4 blocks per game).
Cameron Blake, soph., Round Rock: Point guard will run his father Cody’s offense after averaging five points, four assists per game as a freshman.
Chase Carlton, sr., Westlake: A second-team all-district pick in 2012-13, Chaparrals’ third-year starter will walk on at Texas A&M next season.
Josh Coleman, sr., San Marcos: Scored 11 points per game during his junior year to complement averages of 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
De’Andre Davis, sr., Cedar Ridge: Two-time All-Central Texas guard averaged 21.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game during 2012-13 season.
Trey Dilworth, sr., McNeil: Third-year forward earned newcomer of the year and All-Central Texas honors during his sophomore season.
Abrian Edwards, sr., Pflugerville: UT-Pan American recruit entered Panthers’ starting lineup midway through last season and averaged 10 points, 7.0 rebounds per game.
Trey Knight, jr., Cedar Park: All-district point guard returns to lead state-ranked Timberwolves’ starting lineup.
Jahlil Tutein, sr., Manor: Point guard will lead Manor’s offense after earning All-Central Texas honors and starting for two seasons at LBJ.
TEAMS TO WATCH (with 2012-13 records)
Anderson (30-7): All-Central Texan honorees John Gramlich and Rasmus Bach have graduated, leaving Class 5A regional finalist to replace 86.1 percent of scoring.
Bartlett (20-8): District 26-A’s offensive MVP (Weston Rafay) and defensive MVP (James McKinney) are back for team ranked 16th in Class A, Division I.
Cedar Park (20-13): Sixteenth-ranked team in Class 4A preseason poll of Texas Association of Basketball Coaches lost district MVP Jamie Xia, but three starters return.
Cedar Ridge (18-16): After reaching the postseason in its Class 5A debut, Raiders will lean on Davis and fellow returning starters Austin Estelle, Brice Dudley and Jerrod Smith.
Connally (24-8): Ex-Hays coach Richard McMullen takes over an area-finalist squad that boasts guards Joseph Mitchell and DeShawn Riddick in its lineup.
Lake Travis (24-9): Luke Hutton and Jake Budde will try to improve on all-district seasons for District 15-5A co-champs.
LBJ (32-4): Freddie Roland won’t have Tutein in his 18th season with the Jaguars, but all-district picks Joseph Britton and Darius Johnson do return.
Manor (14-19): Addition of transfer Tutein should help offset the off-season injuries to all-district picks Tyler Ellis and Datrin Guyton.
Rouse (24-13): Return of all-district guards D.J Johnson (9.3 ppg) and Andrew Logan (7.7 ppg) should keep Raiders competitive in District 25-4A.
St. Stephen’s (13-15): Albert Almanza, a Sam Houston State-bound guard, will team up with sophomore Jarrett Allen, a 6-8 transfer from Round Rock.
