What’s your best basketball memory from high school?
When I was a freshman on the varsity team, we were playing a conference game and the winner made the playoffs while the loser did not. Our team was down by two with just seconds left in the game when Bradley Wilson shot a prayer from behind the three-point line to win the game at the buzzer and send our team to the playoffs.
What’s the best part about playing for a small school?
With a smaller school, there is much more coaching going on and fewer players are cut each year, giving players the opportunity they might not have at a larger school.
What’s the biggest difference between St. Andrew’s and, say, a Class 5A team?
In my opinion, the only difference is that those schools have a larger pool of players to choose from. Every time our team plays a bigger school, we try to prove that we belong in the same discussion as the better Austin-area 5A teams.
Which of your high school courses will benefit you the most after you graduate?
Calculus because I feel that it is the most similar to a college course and has given me a perspective of what college classes are like.
Does your team have any basketball-related superstitions?
We don’t have any superstitions. However, we do dance around a player before every game just before we take the court.
If you could invite four people in the history of the world to dinner, who would they be?
Jesus, Babe Ruth, LBJ and George Washington.
Why would you want Babe Ruth to be there?
Babe Ruth is a figure that has always intrigued me. Baseball is my favorite sport, and he is a man that was the most famous in his time — both on and off the field. I would want to have a conversation with him and just learn who he truly was as a person.
What are your college plans?
I hope to play baseball at the college level as a pitcher or first baseman. At the moment, I am looking to study something in the history field.
What do you consider to be the world’s greatest invention?
The internet because it has the ability to connect the entire world in a matter of seconds and can globally raise awareness or spread news.
If you could be a super hero for a day, who would you be?
I would be Superman because he has the ability to fly and uses his powers for good.
Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know.
I am a fairly open person, but I guess one thing would be that I am a pretty simple guy. In my free time, after all of my school and athletics, I would rather just sit back and watch TV than almost anything else.
