Jaylen Hardeman scored 23 points Tuesday night to help Hendrickson upset Pflugerville in a District 16-5A matchup. The 64-49 victory was Hendrickson’s first over the Panthers. … Four Vandegrift Vipers — Ryan Brewster, Nick Fionda, Davis Florence and Hunter Gross — had double-digit scoring totals in their team’s 76-63 victory over Marble Falls on Tuesday. … Liberty Hill and Burnet will open District 8-3A play on Friday with a game in Liberty Hill’s gym. Five Austin-area standouts have been nominated for McDonald’s All-America honors: Round Rock guard Kala Green, Anderson post Saundra Guillory, Crockett guard Jordyn Holmes, McNeil guard Troi Swain and Cedar Ridge post Tiara Pitts. A senior, Pitts hasn’t played this season because of a knee injury. The McDonald’s All-America girls team will be announced Jan. 29, with 24 players from across the country expected to be chosen for the all-star game that takes place April 2 in Chicago.
