Billy Ray McCrary dislocated his left elbow while playing in a Pop Warner football game when he was 11. He popped it back into place, he says, and returned to the team two weeks later.
McCrary broke his left wrist during an opening-round game of the Class 4A, Division I playoffs last year, but he kept the injury a secret from his coaches and continued to play until Rouse was eliminated in the state semifinals.
