High school football: Player of the Week and Game Balls



PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Wade Smith, QB, Bowie

A senior who missed most of last season with a knee injury, Smith completed 22 of 37 passes for a school-record 413 yards in a 52-21 loss to The Woodlands. He also threw four touchdown passes for the second straight game.

Against The Woodlands, Smith connected on TD passes that covered 47, 13, 17 and 47 yards. Bowie closed with an 11-2 record, setting a school record for victories in a single season.

GAME BALLS

Conner Allen, RB, Regents: Rushed for 68 yards and four TDs and caught four passes for 45 yards and another score in a 41-22 victory over San Antonio Holy Cross.

Charlie Brewer, QB, Lake Travis: Finished 12-of-12 passing for 243 yards and four touchdowns while playing only in the first half of his team’s 54-7 romp past Los Fresnos.

Christian DeAngelis, LB, Regents: Piled up 14 tackles in the Knights’ victory over Holy Cross.

Sam Ehlinger, QB, Westlake: Completed 16 of 22 first-half passes for 203 yards and two TDs during a 55-15 victory over Laredo United.

Elijah Higgins, WR, Bowie: Piled up 177 yards receiving on six receptions, including a 13-yarder for a TD, in the loss to The Woodlands.

Tyler Mahnke, WR, Round Rock: Topped 100 yards receiving for the second straight game, making seven catches for 126 yards and two TDs in a 49-45 victory over Coppell.

Ryan O’Keefe, CB, Round Rock: Sophomore recorded eight tackles, grabbed an interception, broke up three passes and had a quarterback pressure in the victory over Coppell.

Mak Sexton, QB, Cedar Park: Completed 35 of 56 passes for 415 yards and four touchdowns in a 47-35 loss to Manvel.

TJ Simien, DE, Lake Travis: Registered seven tackles, three for loss of yardage, and also recorded two sacks and two hurries in the victory over Los Fresnos.

ChabastinTaylor, RB, Giddings: Rumbled for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 26-14 victory over Liberty.

Jojo Weeks, QB, Wimberley: Completed 21 of 33 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown in a 28-7 loss to Cuero.

Freddie White, RB, Liberty Hill: Rushed for 144 yards, including a 73-yard TD run, during a 52-21 loss to China Spring.
