Faces Off the Field: Mitchell McDonald, sr., linebacker, Pflugerville

What’s your favorite football memory at Pflugerville?

My favorite memory would be last year, when we found out we had won the coin toss to make the playoffs. We were all sitting in the locker room after our big win against Stony Point and coach (George Herrmann) face-timed us during the flip. It was big to see the seniors go out like that because they had never been to the playoffs before.

Has football taught you any lessons you apply to daily life?

Football has taught me many lessons I use every day. Mainly how to show respect to any and everyone I come in contact with.

What do you remember about the first time you played organized football?

I was in the third grade. Our team was called the Wolfpack. We actually went to state as the dream team Titans the following year.

Which school do you consider to be your team’s biggest rival?

In my opinion, our biggest rival would definitely be Hendrickson. It’s the only other (Class 6A) school in Pflugerville, and we all played little league football together. The rivalry between us and Hendrickson has always been pretty intense.

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, whom would you invite?

George Washington, Blake Lively, Jesus and Albert Einstein.

What’s your favorite app?

“Faily Rider.” It never fails to entertain.

What exactly is it?

It’s a video game. While on a motorbike in the Nevada desert, you’re forced to the edge of steep embankments while also challenging dangerous obstacles.

Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know.

I could eat Chinese food for every meal of the day.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I take a pre-game nap then throw in some headphones. I like to stay quiet.

Outside of playing football, what do you like most about your school?

The tradition. Being an old school, there is a lot of tradition.

What has been your favorite subject?

Tech Theatre. It’s one of the most fun classes I have ever taken.

What’s your favorite food?

Chinese. I often go to Great Wall Express because it is delectable.
