What is your favorite football memory?
When we played Lake Travis in the playoffs last year. What I loved most was the high intensity of the game and then the big win. I have friends who attend Lake Travis, so I felt bad for them, but I was happy for our great accomplishment.
You play on both sides of the ball. What is your favorite position?
I would have to pick cornerback over running back, because when I’m playing (defense) I have a better feel at the position. And instead of getting hit all the time, I prefer to give the hits and save my body for baseball.
What are your college plans?
I plan to sign with Texas State to play football and baseball. To have this opportunity to play both sports at a Division I level is a blessing itself. All my life I have been dreaming about this opportunity, and now that it’s finally here, I realize my journey has only begun.
If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?
I would invite Jesus Chris, Jackie Robinson, Bo Jackson and Alicia Keys.
He was a monster during his career. He has accomplished what I’m trying to do. I would ask him questions of how he did it and how he was so successful.
If you had the choice of being valedictorian of your class or all-state in football, which would you choose?
I would choose valedictorian because bringing home good grades is the primary focus in my household. So to be the No. 1 student in my class would be an honor.
Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know.
When I’m not playing sports, I’m a country boy who goes out with my friends and have fun fishing, riding four-wheelers and going horseback riding.
What’s the hardest hit you ever took in a high school game?
When I caught a pass against Stony Point, the defender’s helmet dug right into my lower back as I was coming down. It felt like I had gotten shot.
Which of your high school courses will benefit you the most after you graduate?
My French class because knowing two languages is better than just one. My grandparents speak fluent French, and I always wanted to communicate in French with them.
If you bought a car to match your personality, what would it be?
An Audi. When you see one, it’s an eye-grabber. I’m the same way on the field. I don’t say much, but when I play, I catch your eye.
What’s your favorite food?
My grandma made gumbo for me when I was a little boy, and I’m still hooked on that great taste today.
