While I got ya, here are nine things and one crazy prediction:
1. Say it isn’t so that Mack Brown joined in with the crowd of Nick Saban and Les Miles and offered a scholarship to — holy puberty — an eighth-grader? Ah, but it is true, at least according to widely circulated reports that those three head coaches and others from Florida State, UCLA, Nebraska and Ole Miss are turning the head of Dylan Moses, a 6-foot-1-inch, 215-pound running back/defensive back from Baton Rouge, La. Please, NCAA. Pass a rule immediately stating that no coach in any sport can offer a scholarship to an athlete who has yet to take a ninth-grade class. Is that asking too much? Or make it a 10th-grade class. This is shameful behavior. I’m happy for the kid, but part of me hopes he accepts a scholarship — even though it’s nonbinding — and over the next four years decides he’d rather be a pianist or a social worker but wants to hold School X to its scholarship offer.
