Austin’s Andres Cuero scored twice in a 27-minute span after halftime on Friday, and the Aztex shrugged off a ragged first 45 minutes to outlast the shorthanded squad from West Texas, winning 2-1 before a crowd of 1,288 at House Park.
The win allowed Austin (9-1-1, 28 points) to shrug off its first loss of the season on Wednesday and solidified the Aztex’s hold on first place in the Premier Development League’s Mid-South Division. Austin has an six-point lead over Oklahoma City, which is the Aztex’s next opponent. The teams play July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at House Park.
