On Blaire Luna’s last official day as a Longhorn, the Texas fans chanted the All-American’s name as the strikeouts reached double digits and her hits allowed stayed nearly nonexistent. Luna’s rubber band of a right arm hurled pitch after pitch throughout Sunday as she dispensed with Florida in an elimination game, then faced Tennessee.
Unfortunately for Luna, the offense provided little support Sunday night, and fourth-seeded Texas’ run through the Women’s College World Series came to an end with a 2-1 loss to the Lady Vols. The defeat came hours after Luna threw a one-hit shutout against the Gators, leading the Longhorns to a 3-0 victory in their first elimination game.
