Two years ago, Baylor regents were talking about a new football stadium as the school’s athletic department pondered how to raise millions to build a quaint, intimate venue on the banks of the Brazos River, bringing the football experience to campus.
Then Robert Griffin III heavily helped the cause, giving the school a Heisman Trophy and a fundraising shot in the arm by the end of 2011.
