While I got ya, here are nine things and one crazy prediction:
1. Greg Robinson was skewered from coast to coast for his stints at Syracuse and Michigan, but he’s been nothing but great at Texas. He has simplified the Longhorn defense and restored the confidence of the players. “It’s the little things,” defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat said after Texas’ stunning 36-20 win over Oklahoma. “We’ve got confidence.” The zone blitz that led to Chris Whaley’s interception return was brilliant, as was the decision to press the receivers and load up against the run. Whereas Manny Diaz always ran his scheme and all-costs pressure, Robinson matches up personnel and game plans better. In the past three games, Texas’ defense has 13 sacks. Defensive tackle Malcom Brown didn’t show up so much in the stat sheet, but he is a monster with a huge upside. Could be the next Casey Hampton.
