Larry Coker was in town last week to receive a proclamation from the Legislature honoring his work as Texas-San Antonio’s football coach. He chatted up scores of Roadrunners fans geeked about last year’s 8-4 record. And he would have thrown out the first pitch at an Express game if recent elbow surgery hadn’t landed him on his own disabled list.
“And I was looking for some babies to kiss,” Coker said, “but I couldn’t find any.”
