Garrett Gilbert and his SMU Mustangs proved to be a tasty, healing tonic for the beleaguered Texas A&M defense Saturday in a 42-13 Aggie victory.
The Aggies, who had been gutted by Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron only a week ago, easily withstood 62 pass attempts from Gilbert, the former Texas Longhorn from Lake Travis. Overall, A&M forced three SMU turnovers, including one that was returned by safety Deshazor Everett for a touchdown.
