Staff writer Kevin Lyttle offers his weekly 68-team NCAA tournament projections. This year March Madness comes to Austin, with second- and third-round games at the Erwin Center on March 22 and 24. As an added twist, Lyttle forecasts which eight teams could be headed here.
At the top: Quite a shakeup last week leads to Duke overtaking Miami for the No. 1 seed in the East. Even though the Hurricanes look stronger head-to-head, there’s no denying the Blue Devils’ recent surge and stronger overall credentials. Stay tuned, though. Another change is Big East regular-season tri-champion Louisville atop the South, which has its Sweet 16 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. SEC champ Florida took a dive from the No. 1 line to a No. 3.
