Staff writer Kevin Lyttle offers his weekly 68-team NCAA tournament projections. This year March Madness is coming to Austin, with the Erwin Center hosting second- and third-round games March 21-24. As an added twist, Lyttle will forecast which eight teams could be headed here.
On the top line: Four teams dominating their conferences are our No. 1 seeds. Other national bracketologists have inexplicably dropped Miami after a loss and elevated Duke, but how many times do we have to remind them? The Hurricanes lead the Blue Devils by two games in the ACC standings and beat them by 27 points. How much proof does one need? Now, if Duke comes back at Cameron and whacks Miami this Saturday, we’ll reconsider. You’ll see this theme here a lot, but my biggest beef with these folks (and the committee): Watch the games. Look at the standings. Trust your eyes.
