For most of the first half, Texas looked as if it was playing its way right out of contention for the — gulp — College Basketball Invitational and making some wonder if it even wanted to continue playing at all.
By the end of the second half and an overtime period, however, the unranked, season-long-underachieving Longhorns regrouped and played more like a team bound for the NCAA Tournament, hustling, defending and scoring in the clutch. Albeit against a team that has less of a prayer of post-season glory than itself.
