A five-run rally in the eighth inning gave the Tucson Padres a 6-1 win over the Round Rock Express late Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz.
The Padres took a lead in the third inning when a Dan Robertson groundout scored Jaff Decker, who had singled. Tucson held that edge until the seventh, when the Express got back-to-back doubles from outfielders Joey Butler and Jim Adduci.
In the eighth, Round Rock reliever Evan Meek loaded the bases and walked in the go-ahead run. The Padres scored three more runs off Meek before Lisalverto Bonilla replaced him, and one more run scored before Bonilla got out of the inning.
The Express loaded the bases in the ninth with two outs, but Engel Beltre struck out to end the game. Meek (0-2) got the loss, giving up five runs on five hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. Round Rock starter Ross Wolf allowed one run on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
The Express continued the four-game road trip with a late game Sunday night in Tucson.
