Oklahoma City, Okla. —A three run fifth inning by the RedHawks proved to be too much to overcome as the Express dropped the series finale 5-2 on the road.
With the game tied at one run apiece, the RedHawks (8-7) got rolling in the bottom of the fifth. Trevor Crowe tripled with two men on to build Oklahoma City’s lead to 3-1. Crowe was then brought home by a Fernando Martinez double to make it 4-1 in favor of the RedHawks.
After Oklahoma City added another run in the bottom of the sixth, the Express (9-7) tried to get back into the game when Chris McGuiness hit his third home run of the season out passed center field. The lone run was the final offensive output Round Rock could muster.
C.J. Fick (1-0) took the win for the RedHawks in relief of Jordan Lyles. Collin Balester (1-2) was hit with the loss as he allowed five earned runs on ten hits through six innings.
Round Rock returns home Saturday to face New Orleans at 7 p.m.
