For the second straight year, the Austin Aztex made a splash in Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft — five current or former players were among the 78 drafted.
The first Aztec to go was defender/midfielder Robbie Derschang, who was taken 27th overall by the Philadelphia Union last week. On Tuesday, forward/midfielder Kris Tyrpak was taken 40th overall by Chivas USA, 11 spots ahead of midfielder Michael Kafari, who was taken 51st by the Vancouver Whitecaps.
