Mariko Neveu and her husband moved to Austin from Somerville, Mass., last June. Four months after their arrival, Neveu, a former Brandeis University distance runner, finished second in the women’s field at the IBM Uptown Classic, a 10-kilometer event and the first of six races that make up the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge.
On Sunday, Neveu competed in the closing race of the distance series, the Livestrong Austin Marathon, which took place in picture-perfect conditions.
