Police ID driver who died from injuries in Southwest Austin crash

Austin police have identified a driver who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash last week in Southwest Austin.

Michael Thomas Sullivan, 69, died of his injuries Saturday at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.

According to a preliminary police investigation, Sullivan’s and two other vehicle were stopped in traffic on Oct. 13 at 8:27 a.m. on the northbound ramp of U.S. 290 West to MoPac (Loop 1) intersection when an SUV struck Sullivan’s sedan from behind. The crash caused a chain reaction involving the other vehicles, police said.

The case is ongoing and investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at (512) 974-4424 or submit tips through the free Austin police mobile app, Austin PD, for iPhone and Android devices.
