The general counsel for the University of Texas System has submitted his resignation, apparently under pressure, in the latest sign of turmoil at the state’s largest university system.
Barry Burgdorf, 48, has been vice chancellor and general counsel since February 2005 at the UT System, which oversees 15 academic and health campuses. His resignation, effective April 30, comes as a special House-Senate oversight panel is preparing to hold hearings on higher education governance, including allegations that some members of the UT Board of Regents are micromanaging the Austin flagship and trying to drive off its president, Bill Powers.
