The University of Texas System’s general counsel, who is the system’s main open-records officer, was not consulted before the chairman of the regents asked the state attorney general for permission to withhold records from the Legislature.
“I was not consulted. Nor was I part of any decision-making related to that request,” Barry Burgdorf, general counsel and vice chancellor, told the American-Statesman on Tuesday.
