Richard Roper, a former federal prosecutor now specializing in business law, has been appointed as special prosecutor in the criminal case against Georgetown District Judge Ken Anderson.
Anderson, Williamson County’s district attorney from 1985 to 2001, faces felony and misdemeanor tampering charges after a court of inquiry determined in April that he intentionally hid favorable evidence from Michael Morton, who served almost 25 years in prison for the 1986 murder of his wife, Christine, before his 2011 exoneration.
