Proving that they have the power to exert their political will, Republicans in the state Senate on Friday passed three redistricting maps with the exact same boundaries called for by the governor.
Gov. Rick Perry ordered the Legislature into the current 30-day special legislative session to make permanent the temporary redistricting maps for the Texas House, the state Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. The maps were drawn by a panel of federal judges in San Antonio to get though the 2012 elections.
