Proclaiming it a “happy, celebratory day,” Gov. Rick Perry signed stricter abortion regulations into law Thursday as supporters cheered and faint chants of “shame” intruded from protesters outside the Capitol auditorium.
Greeted with a standing ovation from supporters, many affiliated with conservative and anti-abortion organizations, Perry said the signing ceremony would not have been possible “without your prayers, without your impact.”
