Gov. Rick Perry nominated two new regents to the University of Texas System’s governing board on Thursday, a day after state House and Senate leaders established a special panel to look into the board’s operations. Perry also nominated a current regent to serve a new term.
The new regents would be Jeff Hildebrand of Houston, chairman and CEO of Hilcorp Energy Co., and Ernest Aliseda of McAllen. Aliseda is managing attorney of Loya Insurance Group, a municipal judge for the city of McAllen and a major in the U.S. Army Reserves Judge Advocate General Corps. Perry reappointed Paul Foster of El Paso, executive chairman of Western Refining Co., who has been on the board since October 2007.
