President Barack Obama will visit Applied Materials, a venerable cog in Austin’s high-tech scene, when he comes to town Thursday for the first of his so-called Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity tours.
The president will also spend time at New Tech High School in Manor as part of a packed afternoon that, according to the White House, will include sitting down with workers struggling to stay in the middle class and meeting with technology entrepreneurs who are hiring workers with the “cutting-edge skills and creating the tools and products that will drive America’s long-term economic growth.”
