Status of other major legislation:
Redistricting: The Senate approved state House maps on Sunday and sent the bill to the governor for his signature. The Senate and U.S. House maps are already on the governor’s desk, completing the main task Gov. Rick Perry set lawmakers for the special session.
Road funding: A proposed constitutional amendment to spend nearly $1 billion on road construction was on the House calendar Sunday but consideration was delayed by wrangling over the abortion bills.
Juvenile justice: A bill to re-institute a punishment for 17-year-old capital murder convicts was likewise delayed.
