Rolling thunder sounded a steady chorus across the Austin area by the time Lisa Yanez woke up at 2:30 Thursday morning. She started watching Onion Creek, which runs adjacent to her Southeast Austin home.
Yanez saw the creek swell before the sun came up. It gained speed with the dawn, flowing faster and, finally, sloshing over the creek bed.
