Funky and loud mixed with prayerful and silent in the Capitol on Friday as thousands gathered during the Texas Senate’s final debate of a controversial measure to further restrict abortions.
At the center of the Rotunda, several supporters of House Bill 2 prayed quietly as one held aloft a small, wooden cross and another read from a large Bible. One floor up, a group of young women opposing the bill danced outside the Senate and chanted, “You want my body, you want my soul. Control. Control.”
