Last week, Detroit became the largest American city to declare bankruptcy. Recently, a couple of towns in California have also filed for bankruptcy protection. The state may not be far behind. Also last week, Detroit was again listed as one of the most dangerous cities in the country. Oakland, Calif., St. Louis, Memphis, Tenn., and Flint, Mich. were also on this list. MSN didn’t bother to include Chicago and its nearly 200 murders so far this year to go along with the 500 last year. Apparently, the strictest gun control laws in the nation have done little to disarm the criminals there.
Aside from the high poverty rates, what else do these cities have in common? All have been run by Democrats for decades. Detroit hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1962, St. Louis since 1949. Anyone see a pattern here? Keep voting for Democrats, Austin.
