A nearly unanimous Capital Metro board saw room for improvement this week and approved necessary revisions to its travel policy.
The need for board members to put new restrictions on their travel was clear following a report last month by the American-Statesman’s Tony Plohetski that examined the board’s recent travel history, particularly the travel history of board members Norm Chafetz and Beverly Silas. Combined, the two had spent nearly $60,000 on travel since 2010, far more than any other member had spent.
