When Blake Tollett saw the draft map of 10 Austin City Council districts drawn recently by a citizens commission, he was startled.
His West Austin neighborhood of Tarrytown is part of a skinny district that runs up MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) to Howard Lane in far North Austin.

The Austin commission in charge of drawing 10 first-ever City Council districts has created a draft map and will accept input at several public hearings:
Oct 19, 1 p.m., Hampton Branch Library at Oak Hill, 5125 Convict Hill Road
Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m., location to-be-announced
Oct. 26, 10:30 a.m., Southeast Branch Library, 5803 Nuckols Crossing Road
Oct. 30, 6:30 p.m. at Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Road
