Absent radical reform, Medicaid expansion is “one large, incremental step toward single-payer, socialized medicine, and I, for one, will not accept it as long as I am governor of Texas,” Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday.
In a rousing and well-received speech before the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, Perry said he would not join the ranks of other Republican governors in Arizona, Ohio, Florida and New Jersey who have “folded in the face of federal bribery and mounting pressure from special interest groups” and are now going along with the broadening of eligibility for Medicaid under Obamacare.
