With just a week left until devastating federal budget cuts known as sequestration could slash more than a trillion dollars from the long-term federal budget, Texans are beginning to make noise about the impact of the cuts.
State Rep. Mark Strama, D-Austin, joined guests of the Texas chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees on Friday at a news conference, where he labeled the cuts “economic malpractice” by Congress and warned that they could cause teachers to lose their jobs and could shrink essential government services.
