A labor group representing about 200 Austin school district custodians, cafeteria workers, bus monitors and bus drivers has filed a grievance claiming some employees will shoulder an unfair portion of rising health care costs.
The Southwest Workers’ Union filed the grievance with the district last week, arguing that the $71 a month rate increase has a much bigger effect on single employees than those with family coverage. A hearing on the grievance was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
